LGBTQ Leadership Institute 2020: Artemis Rivera

Artemis is a recent graduate of the King’s College in NYC. Although the college is a Christian institution, Artemis converted to Islam soon after graduating. They attend Friday prayers at Masjid al-Rabia, a mosque based out of Chicago. Through the masjid, Artemis volunteers as a prison pen pal and is a sponsor of their prison outreach program. Artemis also works as an insurance agent at GEICO helping policyholders in more than 15 different states. When not at the masjid or at work, they can be found sketching character designs or writing poetry. After the Institute is over, Artemis plans to move into a supervisory role while finishing their MBA from Upper Iowa University and completing their AINS designation through the Insurance Institutes.
