One Iowa hosted the first gala celebration in 2010 to commemorate the momentous Iowa Supreme Court decision (Varnum v. Brien) legalizing same-sex marriage. Since that celebration of Iowa’s legacy of equality, we have continued to celebrate our successes as we preserve and advance equality for LGBTQ people. We are excited to kick off Pride Month and celebrate in-person together for the first time in two years on Saturday, June 4th, at the 13th Annual One Iowa Gala!
5/25/22: COVID UPDATE
Due to the ever-changing nature of COVID coupled with the lack of LGBTQ affirming healthcare in Iowa, we strongly encourage all guests, regardless of vaccination status, to take an at-home rapid antigen test as close to the event as possible.
We know that tests can be hard to come by and have included resources below:
Most Hy-Vee and Walgreens pharmacies have antigen tests on hand. About 90 percent of insurances cover these like a prescription. They suggested calling ahead to order, but you can also ask in-store.
USPS/Federal Government – Free and shipped to your door. You can place up to three orders per mailing address. https://www.covid.gov/tests.
Still can’t find a test? Reach out directly to Malycki at malycki@oneiowa.org, and he will help you locate a test.
We will not require you to show us your test results or vaccination card at the event. We trust that you will do what is best for our community and get tested!
If you are sick or test positive, please stay home and participate in the Gala on Bidpal. You can donate, bid on silent auction items, and enjoy the program all from the comfort of your own home with the event being live-streamed.
