Hunter Smith (he/his/him) born in Cedar Rapids, is a nursing student at Kirkwood Community College. Once Hunter graduates, he plans to continue on at Mt. Mercy University and the University of Iowa to obtain his doctorate of nursing practice. Hunter has a passion for LGBTQ health and hopes to one day work as a family medicine provider for the LGBTQ community across the state of Iowa.
When Hunter isn’t at school, he works at UnityPoint-Cedar Rapids St. Luke’s Hospital. He is a patient care tech on a medical/surgical unit. His passion for LGBTQ health led him to join the diversity committee at the hospital, where he strives to be an advocate for the community within the hospital. This is why he chose to join the LGBTQ Leadership Institute, to grow on his strengths and develop as a leader in LGBTQ healthcare.
In his free time, Hunter enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music, and being outside.
