Amanda Shetler was born in the desert but is a Midwesterner at heart. She’s currently the director of development for By Degrees Foundation, a Des Moines-based nonprofit working to ensure more students graduate from high school and pursue postsecondary education. Prior to pursuing nonprofit work, Amanda worked for the Iowa State Treasurer’s office in public relations and outreach. She graduated from Truman State University in 2013 with a degree in political science.
Amanda has a passion for progressive causes and well-told stories. She unites these passions to raise money and awareness for causes close to her heart, including equitable education access, LGBTQ rights and visibility, and the empowerment of women and girls.
Amanda is a lover of all things Berlin, a rescue dog enthusiast, and a collector of banned books. She lives in Des Moines with her spouse and rescue mutt.
