Care For Yourself: Inclusive Cancer Screenings
One Iowa partners with the Iowa Department of Public Health to connect eligible LGBTQ Iowans, particularly older queer women, and transgender individuals, to their Care For Yourself cancer screening program.
The Care for Yourself program is part of a national initiative that helps reduce risks from breast/chest, cervical, and cardiovascular health issues through inclusive screenings and tests. Local staff can help you schedule: clinical breast/chest exams, mammograms, pelvic exams, Pap tests, and check your risk for heart disease. Through the program, eligible LGBTQ Iowans can qualify for free or low-cost healthcare services.
Knowing your health risks and what you can do to take care of yourself is the first step. Finding an inclusive healthcare provider is next. One Iowa can help folks connect to LGBTQ inclusive providers throughout the state to improve access to quality healthcare through our health & wellness directory.
