Brett Burk

Brett has served as an ESL teacher, a caretaker for disabled adults, and a refugee community engagement professional. Brett began serving LGBTQ communities at the LGBT Resource Center at the University of Iowa, where he earned his BA in Linguistics and TESL along with a Certificate in Writing. These past experiences, along with growing up in a small, rural town in southern Iowa, informs his work in equitably engaging LGBTQ Communities at One Iowa.

Brett is a grassroots community organizer and volunteers on several boards and committees. He is looking forward to pursuing his Master’s in Public Administration. In his free time, Brett enjoys visiting small towns across Iowa and reading in sunny places.
