One Iowa Office and Training Coordinator
One Iowa is seeking an engaged educator to join us as an Office and Training Coordinator. The Office and Training Coordinator will provide One Iowa staff with administrative support across the organization. This role includes community outreach opportunities, including tabling at state-wide pride festivals and community programs. This position will be flexible to the needs of the organization, as a small nonprofit each member of the organization will wear many hats.
A successful Office and Training Coordinator should be knowledgeable on intersectionality and understand the importance of the liberation of all LGBTQ people. This person should have excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. The Office and Training Coordinator will report to the One Iowa Program Director and work closely with the One Iowa Executive Director. This person will work with all staff at One Iowa to meet organizational training and administrative needs. A background in education or organizational programming and/or administrative work is recommended but not required. This position has the potential to include the training facilitation job functions listed below. Individuals with limited facilitation experience should still apply for this position.
Essential Job Functions
Though not an exhaustive list, job functions include:
Office:
- Basic bookkeeping (sending invoices, depositing checks, entering information into Quickbooks Online)
- Organize and schedule appointments and One Iowa trainings
- Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
- Write and distribute emails, correspondence, and forms
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
- Manage voicemails and emails for company accounts
- Maintain/order office supplies, pride tabling supplies, printed materials, etc.
- Develop a system for thanking donors and executing the system
- Assist Executive Director with administrative tasks
- Assist Events and Communications Manager with events and social media
- Ability to lift 25-50 pounds for community outreach (set up and tear down from tabling, etc.)
Training Facilitation (recommended but not required):
- Facilitate One Iowa training focused on workplace culture, health and wellness, and various LGBTQ topics on an as-needed basis
- Work with Program Staff to coordinate training throughout the state of Iowa
- Manage curriculum and other program materials essential to One Iowa training sessions
- Communicate with Program Staff frequently to ensure clear understanding and expectations for each training session hosted
- Answer questions related to LGBTQ+ identities during training sessions
- Communicate with clients to schedule, prepare for, and follow up after trainings
- Complete continuing education to stay up-to-date on current LGBTQ best practices
- Ability to travel throughout the state of Iowa
- Access to a working vehicle and driver’s license required to travel for in-person training and tabling
Knowledge Requirements
Though not an exhaustive list, knowledge requirements include:
- Knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community and intersectionality, including understanding how marginalized communities are impacted by systems of oppression
- A growth mindset and resilience, including understanding that things might not go perfectly
- The ability to adapt, especially when answering questions in a training
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of many backgrounds and various group sizes
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Understanding of Apple technology, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom, Teams, and WebEx applications
- Knowledge of EveryAction (customer record management system) is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of Quickbooks Online is strongly preferred but not required
- Knowledge of grant reporting, grant writing is preferred but not required
The Office and Training Coordinator is a full-time position (32-40 hours/week) with a salary range of $39,000-$41,000 plus benefits, (2) week long shutdowns of One Iowa + PTO, and holiday time off. Hours include typical work week hours and occasional weekend and evening hours as the job requires. Please note that during the month of June, evening and weekend hours will increase with Pride month festivities. The One Iowa office is located in Des Moines, Iowa. This position will include remote and in-person duties, so applicants should either live in the Des Moines area or be willing to relocate to Des Moines. The Office and Training Coordinator will be provided a computer to complete their work.

One Iowa Program Coordinator
Start Date: Early to Mid May 2023
One Iowa is looking for an engaged self-starter to join us as the next Program Coordinator. This person will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing programming related to the One Iowa tobacco cessation grant program. The Program Coordinator will facilitate One Iowa training across the state of Iowa and will assist with One Iowa programs focused on workplace culture, health and wellness, and leadership development. The One Iowa Program Coordinator will also participate in outreach efforts across the state of Iowa.
A successful Program Coordinator will need to be confident in coordinating logistics, working with community partners, performing effective community outreach, and moving between various projects and programs on a daily basis. A successful Program Coordinator should also be knowledgeable of the Social Determinants of Health and prepared to approach all parts of their work from an intersectional lens, emphasizing the liberation of all LGBTQ peoples. The Program Coordinator should be comfortable with grant work and grant reporting and should be comfortable with public speaking and facilitation.
The Program Coordinator will report to the One Iowa Program Director and work closely with them to meet organizational programming needs. A background in public health, community health, social work, or sociology is recommended.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
- Outlining, creating, and implementing tobacco cessation programming throughout Iowa, focusing their energy on creating strong connections with community partners.
- Performing outreach to community partners to create an effective tobacco cessation program.
- Facilitating One Iowa training focused on workplace culture, health and wellness, and various LGBTQ topics.
- Working with the Program Director and Executive Director to coordinate programs, including the One Iowa LGBTQ Leadership Institute, Health and Wellness Conferences, and Workplace Culture Summits, amongst others.
- Working with other staff members on grant writing and reporting.
- Completing outreach efforts throughout Iowa, including tabling at community events, Pride festivals, and conferences.
Skills Required:
- Intersectionality and focus on liberation- an understanding of the myriad ways that intersecting marginalized identities impact individuals and their health outcomes, and a dedication to the liberation of all peoples.
- Growth mindset and resiliency- an understanding that things might not go perfectly and the ability to jump right up after and keep working.
- Experience and comfort facilitating virtual and in-person training- experience facilitating LGBTQ-specific material appreciated but not required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of many backgrounds and various group sizes.
- Experience and knowledge of effective community outreach strategies.
- Knowledge of public health, community health, social work, or sociology topics.
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
