One Iowa Executive Director Resigns, Board Names Courtney Reyes New Executive Director
Dan Royer has resigned as executive director of One Iowa due to a sudden health concern, effective immediately. Royer has served in this position since August.
One Iowa’s Board of Directors has named Courtney Reyes to immediately assume the role of executive director. Reyes previously served as the organization’s assistant executive director, and prior to that as the organization’s development director.
“We are delighted to have Courtney step into the executive director role. Her vision, leadership skills and experience ensure a seamless transition and will help us grow in our mission to advance, empower and improve the lives of LGBTQ Iowans statewide,” said Jenny Smith, chair of the One Iowa Board of Directors. “We are grateful for Dan’s time at One Iowa. Our organization is stronger for him having been at the helm and we wish him the best.”
Reyes joined One Iowa in 2017 and was promoted to assistant executive director this August. During her time with One Iowa, she has led the execution of the organization’s LGBTQ Workplace Culture Summits around the state and the most successful annual Gala fundraiser in the organization’s history this April.
“My time at One Iowa has been an amazing, unforgettable experience since I stepped in the door just over two years ago,” One Iowa Executive Director Courtney Reyes said. “I am honored to lead this organization into its next chapter and work alongside the incredible humans on our staff to advocate, empower, and improve the lives of LGBTQ Iowans.”
A Bloomfield, Iowa native, Reyes lives in Des Moines with her wife, Kate Lyon, and their two sons.
