World AIDS Day
Today is World AIDS Day. As we remember all those we have lost, as we recommit to education and prevention, let us not forget the living. Our greatest tribute to the dead would be, I believe, a commitment to policy and law, resources and support that focus on the dignity, health and well-being of those living with HIV. In this new political climate we must be intentional and vigilant.
36.7 million people are living with HIV. Some are my friends.
More than 35 million people have died from AIDS-related illness since the start of the epidemic. Some were my friends.
May we never forget.
