Iowans are on the brink of an important election, and this weekend One Iowa field staff and volunteers launch the Stand Proud Voter Project by canvassing in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and Indianola. The goal of the project is to identify and mobilize progressive voters who stand for equality.
“The only way to insure the LGBT community is protected this year is to get thousands of pro-equality voters to the polls,” said One Iowa Deputy Field Director Matthew Skuya.
One Iowa staff and approximately 30 volunteers will be going door to door talking to voters about the important issues at stake this November.
“There is a feeling of accomplishment that comes with contributing to an important cause like equality and knowing the work they’re doing will help this organization succeed and protect the LGBT community,” said Skuya.
Everyone is excited and ready to get out there and talk to voters.
“We’re feeling confident about having a successful canvass,” said Waterloo Regional Organizer Ryan Crane.
