Transformations
What: Transformations Iowa is a transgender support group that meets every week.
When: Every Wednesday at 7:00 pm and the second Saturday of every month at 1:00 pm.

The Des Moines Diversity Chorus Welcomes New Singers
If you enjoy singing choral music, the Des Moines Diversity Chorus would love to have you join us – no audition is necessary. We rehearse on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 at Westminster Presbyterian Church on the corner of Beaver and Franklin. Our first rehearsal for our spring concert on May 7th is Monday, February 6th and you are welcome to come try us out. The theme for this spring is “From South of the Border”.

GLBTQ Movie Night
Every week at the Iowa City Senior Center at 28 South Linn Street in Iowa City, there will be two showings of a GLBTQ movie (Sunday at 1:00 pm and Monday at 6:30 pm unless the Center is closed for some reason like a Holiday). The movies are open to anyone over 18 years of age and are held in Room 208. Often discussion does follow the movies.

Lesbian/Bisexual Women’s Focus Group
We want to know what you think about healthcare in Iowa!
This Lesbian/Bisexual Women’s Focus Group will have an opportunity to share perceptions, opinions, beliefs, and attitudes.

Plan for a one and one half hour focus group.
The Focus Group is one of many across the state geared towards our Health Survey and the LGBT Health & Wellness Conference which will take place on June 7th from 8-4 pm at Des Moines University.
Our goals are to help: educate health care professionals and clinics, faith/community organizations, in cultural competency for LGBTQ people;educate members of the LGBTQ community on methods to assist clinics and health professionals in becoming culturally competent to LGBTQ people; offer networking opportunities for attendees; increase resource availability throughout the state; and address specific needs of LGBTQ people who are also of a racial or ethnic group.

PFLAG Meeting in Des Moines

The Des Moines Chapter of Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) will meet at 6:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 1800 Bell Avenue Des Moines, IA 50315 on the third Tuesday of every month. The meeting begins with a short business meeting followed by an educational presentation, and a social and support session. All Are welcome!

Keynote Speakers
Dennis and Judy Shepard are the parents of Matthew Shepard, the 21-year-old college student who was kidnapped, savagely beaten and left to die in 1998, because he was gay.
